Kotor – Njeguši – Lovćen – Cetinje Tour with Traditional Montenegrin Breakfast (Full-Day / Approx. 8 Hours)
History, Highlands & Heritage at the Heart of Montenegro
This full-day tour offers a journey through the mountainous soul of Montenegro—a perfect blend of dramatic landscapes, cultural landmarks, and authentic local traditions. From the fjord-like Bay of Kotor to the historic royal capital of Cetinje, you’ll experience the true essence of the country.
The day begins with an early departure from Kotor, followed by an unforgettable ride up the famous Kotor Serpentine Road—a stretch of 25 sharp switchbacks offering awe-inspiring views over the bay. As you ascend, the air becomes crisper and the scenery transforms from coastal to alpine.
Your first stop is the traditional mountain village of Njeguši, the birthplace of Montenegro’s royal Petrović dynasty. Here, in a rustic family-owned household, you’ll enjoy a traditional Montenegrin breakfast: homemade Njeguši prosciutto, cheese, fresh bread, honey, and either local coffee or rakija. This is not just a meal, but a true cultural experience.
From Njeguši, the tour continues into Lovćen National Park, a rugged and spiritual landscape that holds great symbolic importance to Montenegrins. The road winds through forests and stone peaks until reaching the Mausoleum of Petar II Petrović-Njegoš, Montenegro’s greatest poet, ruler, and philosopher. Entrance to both the national park and the mausoleum is included. After climbing 461 steps to the summit of Jezerski vrh (1,660m), you'll be rewarded with a breathtaking 360° panoramic view—from the Bay of Kotor to the Skadar Lake and even the Albanian Alps on a clear day.
Descending from the mountains, the final destination is Cetinje, Montenegro’s historical and cultural capital. Once the seat of royal power, this quiet town is home to numerous embassies-turned-museums, churches, and grand manors from the 19th century. You'll visit the National Museum of Montenegro, with entrance included, where you’ll explore royal artifacts, rare books, and artworks that trace the evolution of Montenegro’s identity and sovereignty.
After a leisurely walk through Cetinje and some free time to soak in the atmosphere or enjoy a coffee, we return to Kotor via a scenic inland route—completing a circle through Montenegro’s rich heartland.
